Fashion Week - The Dust Up
Now that all the international buyers have left town, the designers are suddenly feeling exhausted and run down - not to mention seriously financially depleted. Was it all worth it? “You know what? It wasn’t all that great,'’ acknowledged someone associated with one of the most commercial labels. “We probably picked up four new accounts that we didn’t have before but all the American retailers, we had from our New York agent.'’ Despite all the hype (and I am guilty of this myself in my Sunday Telegraph’ column), Fashion Week was flat. There was no massive fashion moments - no electrifying shows as there were in the early days at Fox Studios when Collette Dinnigan turned her event into a Parisian dance hall from the turn of the century or when Morrissey had his models sprawled seductively on a revolving red couch. There was no Jerry Hall, no fabulous guests like Anna Piaggi who almost had Simon Lock in tears just by her presence. It was just a simple trade show in a sensational setting rather than a fashion event. Besides Jayson Brunsdon and Alex Perry - (who put more than a few noses out of joint with his second outing) one of the best events was the Toni Maticevski collection attended by some swimming stars who were snapped by Robert Rosen. Well, of course…

Robert Rosen’s Saturday Celebs at FW
Usually fashion week is dead on its designer heels by Saturday but this year there was plenty of action still happening with lots of great labels on the runway including Alice McCall, Anna & Boy and Cohen et Sabine - to name but a few.
Ian Thorpe turned up, while serial celebrity model, Tiffani Wood showed off her new look at the Leona Edmiston’ show. The pouty frockateer scored an after-bash sponsored by In Style Magazine at the Imperial Peking which may have been a sweet victory since her former design partner, Peter Morrissey didn’t have a show at all. Eeek!. Even celebrity minder, Maria Farmer made an appearance on Saturday - no doubt ready to assist if any show business types needed protection from the pesky media toting this season’s hottest accessory - a drug testing kit. Meanwhile one of the most surprising looks of the week was Nova’s Tim Ross in a shirt, collar and tie. He looked just like a school boy..

True Romance at Fashion Week and then some…
On Friday night at the Tight Nickers show, the entire place was buzzing about the news of Erica Baxter ’s split from billionaire businessman, James Packer, who has suddenly zoomed right up to the top of the most eligibile list in Oz. With some of the more shallow fashionistas (yes, it is possible to be more lightweight than a member of the fab fash pack) already wondering whether there was enough time to make it to Scientology headquarters after the show, much attention was placed on the Baxter visage. Did she look cut to as many ribbons as the Tight Nickers outfit she was wearing? No, actually she handled herself with aplomb. Some people are blaming the relationship glitch on Snoop Dogg’s over familiarity with a woman set to become a Sydney social royal - others are saying that perhaps she was more taken with Kabalah than Scientology ..Maybe it was a little bit of everything? Your comments please.
