Robert Rosen at the Vin de Champagne Awards, Glass

This is the Oscars of the champagne `noses’ - those who can not only tell each house of bubbles apart but can identify every bunch of grapes that went into elevating them into the bubbily stratosphere. The black tie night is also an opportunity for the foodie A-list and assorted celebs to try the best champagnes in the world. Among them - Cristal 99 and Pol Roger (Sir Winston Churchill 96). However the star of tonight’s awards was designer, Carla Zampatti who recreated herself as a vamp.

Youth In Search Gala, Sydney

Fergie’s sister Jane Ferguson has been trying to rev everyone up about this for weeks. In the end she managed to pack a good A-list crowd into Luna Park  (if you can call the PM and his wife, A-listers, some wouldn’t)  under cover, close by the dodgem cars. Everyone said that they had a great time including Sydney’s most desired single mum, Shari Lea Hitchcock - who had organised a car to pick her up at 11pm but wished she hadn’t and even Lady (Sonia) McMahon with perennial date, Bill Winning - just why  a 70-year-old could be bothered getting all tizzied up for yet another charity ball at a difficult destination is anyone’s guess. No, I’m not ageist by the way, just practical - it was hardly a luxurious five star hotel where she would have felt slightly more pampered.

Some of Sydney’s most fashion forward socialites choose Escada including Angela Fleming - the owner of one of the best jewellery collections in `Palmie’, as well as new mum and PR maven, Kirsten Carriol - and yes, even uber spring chick Skye Leckie has been known to have her Escada moments. The latest collection was shown off in Sydney’s latest It destination - the Crystal Bar, No 1 Martin Place (well, there has been two cocktail parties there in the last three days - how It do you want?) Major Escada colour - deep cerise - soo-oo flattering.
