Gossip - My New Novel

Funny, racy and full of behind-the-scenes glimpses of the glitz, glamour and betrayal of the high flying celebrity set and those who pursue them. Gossip is a galloping good read to liven up the dreariest of days.” - Kerry Hennigen, Travel Beat.

“The book is a spoof, ofen splapstick, sharply satirical about the self-help industry and loads of fun,'’ Paola Totaro - Sydney Morning Herald.
“If you love your celebrity gossip, then you will absolutely adore this book,'’ Famous Magazine.

Gossip, published by Penguin on April 3, is my debut novel which has been described as a sparkling snapshot of the secrets and scandals that thrive in the city’s social jungle. It tells the story of Venous Ventura the Gossip Queen and numero uno gossip columnist. She loves her job and she loves the good life – designer heels, designer restaurants and hot scoops.

So how did she end up enrolled in The Source, an exclusive self-help co in Byron Bay? Why is she being forced to ‘open her soul’ to a bunch of needy socialites, earnest hippies and disturbed businessmen intent on finding their inner child. Divine truth and ways to make even more cash?

Throw Ruby Starr – celeb fashion designer and Venous’s arch enemy – into the mix, along with J.Lo and a swarm of social wannabes, and you’ve got chaos, razor-sharp satire, tears before bedtime and plenty of black humour. Anyone who knows me and is familiar with the lifestyle I lead will know that I am the type of person who frequently finds herself in exactly the same kind of situations as some of those mentioned in the book.

Gossip was launched at Glass by Richard Wilkins – Nine’s entertainment reporter and a man who has featured in my column on numerous occasions, thanks to his multiple wives, children and girlfriends. Do not expect to read too much more about Richard for a while here or in my Sunday Telegraph pages as I promised him amnesty for a year. Among those in the throng of thrillseekers at the A-list eatery that night were designer Charlie Brown, Princess Mary’s bridesmaid, Amber Petty, Denis Handlin – the boss of Sony/BMG - restaurateurs Toby Osmond and Luke Mangan, makeup queen Tali Shine, uber-agent Mark Morrissey and lots of fab PR mavens – determined to stay in the good books…

The following night it was launched at David Jones, in Melbourne by Nick Giannopoulos in front of a crowd that included film producer Mark Pennell, the one and only Gina G (as mentioned in the book), Flemington queen Judy Romano and a gaggle of other gossip columnists…

It was the Gold Coast’s turn on April 6, with 230 women turning up to an Early Riser’s Breakfast at Palazzo Versace to hear me chat about my work and about the writing of the novel.
