New Woman’s 200th Issue Birthday Brekkie

It’s a bit  rich, asking a lot of hard working fashionistas to rise early for a birthday brekkie. Why not brunch? Whatever happened to the cocktail hour? F’raid they’d drink up  the editorial budget in premium voddie? However it’s not every day that a magazine gets to 20 issues - let alone 200 - so, yep, break out the scrambled eggs…

At least New Woman staged an opulent fashion show with all of the top designer gowns including something from Collette, Jayson Brunsdon and  Camilla, auctioned for charity with all funds going to Fashion Targets Cancer. The setting was the ECQ Bar at the Quay Grand, and yes, you can still buy your frock on the New Woman’ website.

No Names - Plenty Of Packdrill…

As if there wasn’t enough problems at Channel Nine. Now there is potentially a staff uprising in current affairs where one woman has earnt a fearsome reputation for bullying and harassment. She even had a go at a security guard but is so far untouchable as she has connections.. Now some of her colleagues are thinking of putting a deposition forward to human resources. There is even talk of a book, the snappily titled, Network . (Get out of here!). Either way, those at Nine need a break.

Bucha - Not a Meat Market… Pix by Robert Rosen

There must be something in the air at Sydney’s most fashionable steakhouse, Bucha which was recently opened by the former shirt tsar, Ian Nessick. (For a while there, his YPV brand was where it was at - they even loved him in Paris). No sooner were the doors open in Darlinghurst last Tuesday when Nessick was snapped looking all dreamy with his newish girlfriend, magazine queen, Kat Vidovic. Not to be outdone - publicist Peter Metzner, who has matinee idol looks whenever he remembers to have a hair cut (you’re due for one now, baby), planted a wet one on his true love, Rose Wetzel. Maybe they should all stop eating steak?

Saturday Nights at Eve S’Alright ..

Gwendolyne_Richard_Nylon_and_Jono_1_.jpg

Gwendolynne, Richard Nylon and Jono Francisco

There are some people who wouldn’t be seen dead out on a Saturday night. I mean, how much of a bogan can you be?. But nightclub promoter Jono Francisco (great name, very cosmopolitan), has taken over Saturday nights at Eve and has been attracting the fashionable and the fearless.. Haute designer, the newly single - well ok, semi-detached Gwendolynne popped in the other night to hang out with milliner, Richard Nylon. They are always collaborating anyway.

Ex Bardot’ star, Katie Underwood is due to perform her new dance hit on August 26 and Bachelor Girl, Tania Doko will use Eve as the launch pad for her new music outfit, Love Lab, on September 16,

As if that wasn’t enough excitment, word has now reached me that Nick Russian is actually an ex-model and the star of Temptation Island. No wonder the joint is going off. (By the way, they sure do dress differently in Melbourne, always have).

No Names Plenty of Packdrill..

Which extremely hunky AFL star from a team that celebrates Melbourne’s suburb of grunge is gay? Is this just wishful thinking on the part of some of our better dressed mates or is it the truth? The player is always snapped with glamorous women but strangely none seem to stick around..

Bowie Launch - The Strand, Sydney

Milllioniare property owner and ex girlfriend, Erica Baxter, Alex Dimitriades and Emma Lung were among guests who made it all the way up to the Strand Arcade for the launch of Bowie Wong’s concept store. Yes, another glammed up night in a shopping centre but at least the Strand Arcade has stacks of atmosphere.
