The annual Golden Stave’ lunch at Sydney’s Hordern `Pav’ on June 30 - is undoubtedly the stuff of legends..Billed as the entertainment industry’s longest lunch of the season, it never fails to live up to its name. Each year, the GS’ walking wounded can be spotted gingerly making their way around the nearby precinct clutching a variety of prizes and looking for one of the many after-parties.
Even early in the proceedings, there are usually a few sights to behold including Kerrie-Anne Kennerley dressed up in a black leather designer suit trying to look like Suzie Quatro, stacks of high powered record industry executives in full networking mode and the one and only `Chuggster‘ bossing everyone around at the drinks outside in the weak winter sun.
Of course, it’s all for an excellent cause. This is foremost a charity event which raises funds for a variety of childrens’ causes with some $8 million given away since its inception 27 years ago.
This year the $175-per-head guests can expect excellent value for money with live performances by You Am I, Tap Dogs and John Paul Young with plenty of wisecracks along the way from cerebral MC - Adam Spencer.
Michael Chugg himself (one of The Golden Stave board members) calls the auction in his inimitable style. Included among these top prizes up for grabs this year is this framed Fender Telecaster guitar autographed by The Rolling Stones together with their 2006 Bigger Bang album poster and Sydney 2006 Set List, autographed 2006 Tour Progrom plus their CD and DVD catalogue. (The way that Keith Richards has been travelling lately - this could become a real collectors’ item). Other prizes include two Gold Tickets to U2’s Sydney Concert including a meet and greet backstage or for those with weeny boppers - a chance for a meet and greet with those other millionaire guitar heroes - the Wiggles.

Judy Romano, Andrew McManus and Deslee Kennedy enjoy a day at the races.
He could still smile as he swanned arounds the Chairman’s Club at Flemington with a group that included two blonde bombshells - Judy Romano and Deslee Kennedy last weekend - however millionaire horse enthusiast and rock promoter Andrew McManus (the man who got Stevie Nicks so fired up at last year’s spring racing season that she actually bought a share in a horse), has lost his family’s holiday dream home in Byron Bay. Last week, the luxury villa was razed to the ground by a fire sweeping through it. “It’s completely ruined,'’ said McManus, we’re going to have to start all over again.'’
Thankfully things are looking a little brighter in other areas in his life and he is just a few days away from announcing the name of the diva who will his his special guest in his sumptuous marquee at this year’s Melbourne Cup.

Former Australian Idol winner and Pepsi’ spruiker Guy Sebastian chowing down on sushi with a cool black guy, both with caps over their `fros’ in the subterranean Sushi Express in Spring Street, Bondi Junction at lunchtime today. By the looks of things, it was Guy’s treat.
Meanwhile there are unconfirmed reports that Oz Idol co-host, Andrew G has traded in those Farrah Fawcett’ locks of his for something more butch. “But he still looks girly'’, commented one unkind industry observer.
Also on the subject of Idol, carefully acerbic judge, Kyle Sandilands was among the throng of thrillseekers checking out Russell Crowe at the Rabbitohs’ event last Thursday - but his chance of successfully pressing the flesh was zippo since he has said some unkind words about the actor’s music skills on 2dayFM and may forever have to eat crow…

Royal wedding feast specialist, Luke Mangan will miss out on preparing the June 25′ spread for Nicole Kidman’s and Keith Urban’s nuptuals because he will be on his way to LA on that day. A large catering company is believed to have signed on for the glam job instead.
Mangan, who has cooked birthday dinners for Kidman in the past at his old flagship restaurant Salt, is said to have found the logistics unfeasible for him however he refused to comment on the date of the wedding and whether or not he is or was involved. He has not ruled out cooking for a special occasion for her when she returns to the US. In the meantime, he is taking off with good buddy Richard Wilkins to see the premiere of Pirates Of the Caribbean 2 at Disneyland. Not quite as heart-stopping as the Kidman/Urban’ festivities and just plain weird if you ask me but still…
Meanwhile with another Hollywoodish event was on in Sydney yesterday - the christening of the latest member of the Hugh Jackman’ clan - baby Ava at St Jamas in the Sydney beachside suburb of `Glamourama’. Guests included Tara Moss who had rushed back from the North American book fair, Mark Pennell and Tom Burlinson.

He’s not only one of America’s most commercial bridal designers with his sister, Michelle but their label has just been nominated for Best Designer Bridal/Better Dressed for 2007. These are Aussie-born and bred Henry’s favourite things about New York.
Morning Ritual: American Deli coffee at the Non-Gourmet Deli in Greenwich and Bethune. (Spanglish is spoken there). It must be Hazelnut Large with Half and Half.
Favourite People Watching Place: The F Train any day or night - a subway ride to 55 countries in 30 minutes. It also goes from Coney island to Queens through Manhattan and then back to Brooklyn.
My Favourite `Out There” Hobby: The Hip Hop Poetry Society - http//www.urbanwordnyc.org/performance.html - 33 years of tradition. Wednesday night is freestyle and open mike. You just put your name down and go up when called. The last poem I wrote and performed there was three weeks ago and it’s such a cerebral dry cleaning.
My Favourite Music and DJ: Mr C is one of the most put together, eclectic dj’s I have heard in the world. He is very New York and at the same time plays broad freestle , live on 97.1 HotFM- Friday and Saturday nights after 3.00am.
My Favourite Food and Watering Hole: Bond Street - so not trying. It’s all over you with balanced patrons and waiters that all seem like their zoloft is kicking in really well. It’s such a pampering kind of place that they don’t even care if Cameron Diaz is at the next table. it’s all about you.
My Favourite Larger than Life Summer trend in NY: Bling and Chinese things. I love really yellow gold chunky watches with faux diamonds on the inside - it’s all available from large, kiosk style booths in China Town.
