It was all happening at Crown this week for Shane Crawford who asked a bunch of friends including Ed Phillips, Trent Croad and former Melbourne Cup winner Sub Zero to turn up and help him launch his racing syndication business.,while his heavily pregnant partner, Olivia Anderson looked on.
Crawford has excellent equine `cred’ - a long term member of the VRC , he was also the face of Moonee Valley Racing and his trainer is none other than the legendary Lee Freedman Oh, and he bought two horses from Reg Inglis at the horse sales last Easter. So, when he eventually hangs up those Hawthorn footy boots, we’ll all know where to find him..

Former Sydney celebutante Charlotte Dawson has reinvented herself in her New Zealand homeland’ as the host of the NZ version of Getaway. Life just hasn’t been the same since she was sacked after being reduced to writing a column for a Sydney tabloid magazine: It’s been much, much better. Dawson is hugely popular with her viewers -a contrast to the way she was shunned here following the collapse of her marriage to Olympian swimmer - Scott Miller.
She is still battling through the NSW Supreme Court system for a defamation payout from Consolidated Press following a super critical story about the marriage, published in Women’s Day. “When it’s finally settled, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to work in Australia again,'’ she said frankly. In the meantime, she has fallen out with several TV `personalities’ after her lawyers tried to subpoena records of their income to prove what she could have earnt if she had been able to stick around. The sound of one veteran personality screaming abuse down the phone at her is one experience she will never forget.
Nevertheless, the onetime girlfriend of James Packer, vows to fight on and on. She may be living in NZ but she’s certainly not going away..

Neighbours’ stalwart Alan Fletcher, who is currently touring in the UK with his band, The Waiting Room, has friends in high places. One of the many UK devotees of the long running Australian soapie is Euan Blair - son of the embattled British Prime Minister, Tony Blair. Ewan won huge brownie points with his mates when he had this photo taken with Al after he presented a gong at the British Soap Awards. Oh well, if the Oz -based actor ever has any problems with British passport control, he knows who to call..
